Shitstorm is already uprising.
Does this affect gtanetwork as well?
We don't know yet, hopefully not. Maybe a dev could clear this up.
It'll only affect us if Alexander Blade, maintainer of Scripthook and member of Open IV, also stops Scripthook. If that happens then we will find a way to produce our own version of hooking, or find an alternative.
Whoa. I was worried about ScriptHook the most. I'm glad the team has alternative ideas.
But you'd still be modding GTA which was made illegal? So you would be in risk of getting in a lawsuit or am I misunderstanding this..
Modding is not illegal, Rockstar made that clear. Reverse-engineering is.
OpenIV was taken down basically because of GTA Online cheaters and exploit users.
GTA:N should be fine.
and only with reverse engineering you can find memory addresses which need for doing a MultiPlayer.
Just a moment ago, Vance explained it:
We don't use any of GTA: Online's code for our multiplayer.
I am pretty sure they will find an alternative, GTA V has some strong developers whom will fight for thier freedom, I hope T2 would be like Betshada and Fallout community so they'd be welcoming and warming modders. (surely not the online one).
"Here is my comment on this Rockstar's statement:
OpenIV, “Liberty City in GTA V” and all other mods/projects from my team and me are only specific for Single player. Rockstar must be well aware about the fact that you cannot access GTA Online while you have installed any OpenIV mod:
The statement "Unfortunately OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody", is just wrong and they know it. OpenIV does not allows or supports any kind of GTA Online mods. We always supported Rockstar in their right to protect GTA Online from hacks and cheats. But, Take-Two's C&D was specific for out Singleplayer mods and have no mentions about GTA Online."
so they dont care if gtan is using gta online or nah. u should read about this, not being fixed on idea "if i dont use the gta they will not close my project"
That is what I was referring to. Overall though you cannot stop an idea. I'm fairly certain that someone else will make an alternative to Open IV that will be available for awhile.
ok right, but if they close gta:n? somebody will come and will open gta:n again?
GTA:N doesn't operate openly. Dev names aren't public, the server IP is "hidden" behind cloudflare and the whois record. is private. I think the point is that Take2 can't even reach "our" devs.
the money can buy anything in this world, and take2 have enough money.
They certainly could step up security to the point T2 can't do shit. That's for sure. As for now, Take2 just bothered to send out C&D to OpenIV to don't spend money on a expansive curt case.
I'm glad this resolved itself otherwise we'd be in some trouble haha!
