I just wanted to ask, if there is plan on making proximity VOIP chat possible in the future? Btw, awesome work so far, i just hope it will explode like sa:mp did and that there will be ton of fun servers to play on!

Adding to luky604. Will it or can it be similar to Arma 3's Takistan life mod

Exactly, proximity chat thats hearable only form certain distances and for longer distances we could use a phone, police transmitter etc? Thats what I think adds to the immersion pretty much.. Of course it should not be forced and admin should have full controll over modes like "Voice Chat", "Proximity Voice Chat/Phone" and "No Voice at all"

Do you tested your sync with more than 30 Players ?

We don't even have 30 testers yet, but there should be no issues.

If the server is powerful enough, in theory there shouldn't be issues, but who knows what bugs may pop up.

Thats pretty sad. One of the things that adds to immersion and comfort the most.. Why that decision? I doubt that its impossibly hard to program since ive read on reddit about some bits of code that are already in game that allow such way of communication

It's not hard to program, it's just that it's not high on the priority list.

Well "not high on the priority list" sounds certainly better than "not in the plans at all".. i just really wish you'd implement this at some point.. Dont get me wrong, i dont want to sound like ungratefull bitch, your work is amazing and i cant wait untill im getting my hands on it, with or without VOIP :=)

The thing is that 90% of future players are not interested in that feature

True but honestly I think that's because the community is really small at the moment also. I'm sure it will be different when GTAN and 5RP are fully out and other interested players get wind of it. At least that's what I hope. I often played on the world war samp server, which started off nice until we realized it became a "run and gun deathmatch" and giving orders and planing became hard in chat because text where eventually missed constantly and players just did their own thing and eventually we only communicated by vehicle horn. Anyway lets please take anymore of this VOIP topic to the suggestion page since there's a topic for it there.

Well interesting how some of you can see into the future... At this moment you cant have a single idea which players will be playing on GTA:N.. Im sue that if it gets bigger, ton of people playing Arma life modifications will except such a feature to be in the game.. Now youre speaking just for a small community of people, that are used to using text communication only since most of the people here come from GTA:SA or IV RP servers..

It's not a small community of people, almost everyone here was SAMP/MTA player, you won't find much Arma players here... Arma community has more mature players, if you played samp/mta you know how much kids is there, now imagine playing with 13 year old who is really good at roleplaying because of previous experiences and then you look at that skin/model of 30 year old gangster and hear that kid's voice. Yeah, that's true, it's easier to talk and drive than type but this is GTA community, not Arma, we've been chatting for 10 years.

Well, yeah it still is when it comes to comunity surrounding GTA:N and Five:RP. And if those two things will blow up like they should (meaning high player base) there will be definetly more roleplayers from other games too.
Ok sure, i agree but this is not just about FIVE:RP, this is about the GTA:N client in general ^^ It wont be all just around RP servers, because if the project will succeed and we get client with the possibility of creating our own mods and servers.. The potential is endless.
No one is forbidding you from writing if you preffer that. I am a PC gamer, i like to have options. You dont want to talk? Its okay, but you should respect wishes from other players that could preffer that :=)

And giving argument of "we've been chatting for 10 years" is like saying "We dont need to invent fire, we survived without it for thousands of years"

Okay, here's another argument. People play their roles through formal language, just like in books. They can use adjectives to fully describe the scene. For example, you say to your mic "Michael leaned the wall, then light a cigarette and said: yeah, I know it man". It sounds strangely imho.
And another one: we can save game screens, because everything is visible on it: chat, players, objects. What will you save with voice chat, when someone is gonna break the rules? Voice records?
